Meet Robert Weinapple

"We are aware that the conductor is not really making the music, it is making him—if he is relaxed, open and attuned, then the invisible will take possession of him; through him, it will reach us." - Peter Brook

as a child, I was never drawn to children's movies. They seemed simplistic and didn't reflect the invisible complexity of the world as I experienced it. I was more drawn to the crazy chaos of the Marx Brothers, James Dean's anger, the rawness of Dylan and Lennon. These artists seemed to somehow make sense of the world, no matter how insane. I remember very clearly the first time I saw West Side Story. Natalie Wood's grief and anger moved me beyond anything I had ever felt before, because it made visible to me the invisible world that I knew existed but couldn't articulate. It made me feel less alone, that the world made a little more sense. If there is a thread that runs though my work as an actor, director, musician and teacher, it is this: to make the invisible visible.

"She opened up a book of poems and handed it to me
Written by an Italian poet from the 13th century
And every one of them words rang true and glowed like burnin’ coal
Pourin’ off of every page like it was written in my soul
From me to you..." - Bob Dylan
